What I teach

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

This follows a more traditional approach using a sequence of set postures which was systemised by Sri K. Pratabhi Jois in Mysore, India. It is a strong dynamic form of vinyasa yoga where each movement flows into another in connection with your breathing. I have practiced up to advanced series in ashtanga and can guide you through improvements upto the 2nd series. If you are a beginner to yoga and want to take a dynamic and more challenging approach to learning yoga this an ideal system to use.

Yoga for all

Yoga is not a one size fits all and therefore the advantage of having one-to-one classes is that I can tailor yoga postures and intensity level to suit your needs, ensuring you are doing postures in a safe and effective manner and feel the progress from it.

Pilates

In Pilates there is a great deal of focus on developing your core strength. It includes many principles of yoga but places emphasis on stability and mobility as opposed to flexibility. It is a great opportunity to strengthen deep muscles and learn to move in a precise way and improve joint health. Exercises are layered and built up towards more advanced movements using constant motion rather than staying in static postures. The concept of layering is that the more complex the movement becomes, the more muscle groups are used therefore starting off with simple movements allows for fine tuning in preparation for more complex movement. It is an excellent compliment to exercise for athletes who wish to learn precise movement to enhance their sport performance, for those with hyper mobility issues or anyone wanting to improve posture.

Personal Training

At Withington Baths I coach clients to use weights as part of their strength training and improve cardio vascular fitness. Building up strength, power and endurance is an important part of staying fit and healthy and is good to incorporate into any fitness regime. If you require personal training you can have sessions tailored to your needs, whether your aim is to lose weight, improve stamina or become all over stronger.

Breathwork

We all breathe to survive but not everyone knows how to control their breath. There are many benefits to breathing exercises including helping to calm the nervous system, it reduces stress and improves concentration. Breath is the connection from conscious to the subconscious part of our brain and is something we can all benefit greatly from for a happy and fulfilled life.
